Practice Your Facts! One of the biggest ways to boost performance and understanding in Math class is increasing fluency in Math facts. Once we've learned them, we need to keep them fresh with practice, practice, practice. There are many basic facts practice websites that provide game practice or printable worksheets. I have included a link here to one website, Math Fact Practice, that provides online practice. Kahn Academy is another popular website that gives step-by-step videos for specific concepts/problems. How your child practices is not as important as the fact that they DO practice.

Dismissal ProceduresFourth grade students will now be dismissed from the North gate (just east of the Parish office). If the student has a younger sibling, he/she will be dismissed from the youngest sibling's gate. Kindergarten is dismissed from the Southwest gate, 1st grade is dismissed from the Office gate, and 2nd and 3rd grades are dismissed from the South walk-through breezeway.
RenWebRenWeb is the way students and parents can check progress in the grade book. If you are new to the school, please check with the office to obtain a log in.

Benchmark TestingOne of the changes coming to St. Joseph School is benchmark testing through MAP(s). This year students will be taking benchmark tests in Math and Reading. These tests will be taken several times throughout the year to help us monitor progress. Since every benchmark test covers ALL of the 4th grade curriculum for that subject, students will show many areas needing improvement at the beginning of the year. As the year goes on, they should show improved results, as we cover each of the skills/content in the curriculum. More information will be available as we embark on this new process, as well as information to access your child's account. If you have any questions or concerns, make sure to ask me about it.
